What Areale is
A practice where depth is the standard, not the exception.
Most group practices ask clinicians to work within a broad, eclectic framework. Areale is different. Depth psychology — Jungian, archetypal, psychodynamic — is not an option here. It is the foundation.
Our patients are high-achieving professionals and artists in New York who have sought and not found what they needed in conventional therapeutic settings. They arrive at Areale specifically because of what this practice is. The clinicians who work here must be formed in the tradition that makes that possible.

Depth orientation is required
Jungian, archetypal, psychodynamic, or self psychological training. Not familiarity. Formation.
Clinical rigor is non-negotiable
We work with complex presentations. Shadow material. Narcissistic wounding. Long-term depth work. Clinicians must be equipped for that terrain.
Cultural competence is foundational
Our patients bring their full history into the room. Clinicians must be equipped to hold that — including the racial, cultural, and ancestral dimensions of psychological experience.
Continuing formation is expected
Depth psychology is a living tradition. Clinicians at Areale are expected to remain in active engagement with the scholarship — reading, training, supervision.
Integrity is the operating standard
Clinical, ethical, and relational integrity — in every session, every document, every patient interaction. This is not negotiable.
Who we are looking for
The clinician Areale needs is already formed by the tradition.
We are not looking for clinicians who are curious about depth psychology. We are looking for clinicians in whom depth psychology is already a clinical reality — present in how they listen, how they conceptualize, how they sit with what arises in the room.

Licensed in New York State
LCSW, PhD, PsyD, or equivalent licensure. Full licensure required. Candidates working toward licensure may enquire about supervised associate positions.

Depth Psychology Clinician — NYC
Areale Counseling & Wellness is accepting enquiries from licensed clinicians with depth psychological training who are interested in joining a growing Midtown Manhattan private practice.
We welcome enquiries from candidates at various stages of their clinical career — from recently licensed clinicians with strong depth training to seasoned practitioners looking for a practice home aligned with their orientation.
There is no posted deadline. We accept enquiries on a rolling basis and meet with candidates when the right fit presents itself.
Licensed Depth Psychology Clinician
Private Practice · Midtown Manhattan · In-Person & Telehealth
Minimum requirements:
- New York State licensure (LCSW, PhD, PsyD, or equivalent)
- Demonstrable depth psychological training or orientation
- Experience working with adults individually; couples experience a plus
- Ability to work with professionals, artists, and creatives in a demanding urban environment
- Commitment to clinical supervision and ongoing professional development
- Familiarity with dream analysis as a clinical modality
